Choose Your Own Adventure

Do you remember the “choose your own adventure” books as a kid? I absolutely loved those! I never ever wanted the adventure to end, and I found it so intriguing how the whole story line would change depending on which decision you made when you came to the fork in the road. Being the curious soul that I am, of course, I had to choose every adventure and reread the book multiple times in order to exhaust every single possible option.

Today as an adult, surprisingly I find that I’m not actually much different than I was as that little kid. I’m still just as curious as ever and can’t wait to dive head first into the next amazing adventure of my choosing. If you really think about it, isn’t life just one big “choose your own adventure” story?

My Own Adventure

My own personal adventure came much later in life. Growing up in my small town of Orange, Texas there was no real “adventure” to speak of. It was your basic small town with a Wal-Mart, a small movie theater, and a few Mexican restaurants dotted along the two “main” roads. Though I didn’t get into many adventures as a kid, I’ve definitely managed to make up for lost time as an adult and now I can’t get enough. Staying true to myself and choosing to live my adventure has actually become a way of life. I refuse to settle into living in the ordinary. I find that this is a common problem in adult life. Most people do not feel that they are really living the life that they would like to be.

When I meet new people and the conversation turns to travel, they are typically surprised at how often I do it and how little I pay. The tend to say things like, “I wish I could do that.” Of course, my answer is always, “You can!” They automatically come up with every excuse in the world as to why it won’t work for them, yet the only thing truly stopping them are their own limiting beliefs.

Define Your Adventure

If you could choose to live out your own adventure what would it be? Would it be to travel more, to have more free time, or to have some new exhilarating experience like skydiving? What’s on your bucket list? Do you feel in your core that you are really living? If not, what small choice could you make today that will get you closer to that adventure? As we all know the journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step.

My personal mission is to empower you to discover your own adventure and help you realize that step-by-step, you really can make it your reality. Life is short, and you have the power make it amazing. Create a life of adventure and fulfillment.
