How to Find an Affordable Designer Bag

Quench your thirst for that designer piece without breaking the bank

As women, we like our handbags, and sometimes we want to splurge a little on that designer piece that calls our name. The only problem is that when you see the price tag of that gorgeous Chanel crossbody, you can’t help but think of all the things that you could buy instead.

So how do you find an affordable designer bag?

The answer: Get the bag you want at a discounted price after it’s been slightly pre-loved.

Luxury Garage Sale has all of the top designers including my personal favorites, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel. They also carry clothes, shoes, and accessories from all the major designer brands, so you can technically get an entire outfit if you wanted to.
When it comes to investing in luxury handbags, I typically go for the ones that I know I’ll use every day, but I also sometimes love to find those unique pieces that no one else has. LGS has both.
Their prices are up to 90% off of the original suggested retail price, depending on the condition of the item. This way you’ll be able to decide whats more important to you and your budget. You can decide if you’d rather have the ultimate discount or spend a bit more for a product in better condition.

How do I determine the condition?

All of LGS’s items are certified authentic, and they use 5 different categories to describe the condition. Here’s an excerpt from their website to help clarify.

New with Tags: Item is pre-owned but has never been worn. Original store or designer tags are still on item.

New with defects: Item is new with tags, but has slight defects from trying on or storage.

Excellent: Pre-owned, but shows no signs of wear.

Good: Pre-owned, but shows slight signs of wear.

Shows signs of wear: Pre-owned or vintage, and while still an excellent piece, shows some obvious signs of wear.

Either way, shopping at Luxury Garage Sale is a great opportunity to get that designer piece you’ve been eyeing for a fraction of the price.

If you’re like me and you need to try on clothes and shoes before you buy them, then catch one of Luxury Garage Sales’s pop up boutiques! Currently, they have a flagship store in Chicago with two other stores in Dallas and Minneapolis. The pop-up boutiques are making their way across the USA so keep an eye out for your city! Out with the old, in with the new

If you have items that you’d like to get rid of to make new space in your closet for some fresh items, then consider using the LGS consignment service. They can schedule at-home pickups in several major cities and accept drop-offs at any of their boutiques. If you’re too busy to make it over or live too far away, then they can even send you a prepaid shipping label.

If you need help finding the perfect ensemble for a special event, LGS offers styling services in person and online! For those times when you’re looking for something in particular, you can put in a request and one of the stylists will do their best to help you find it.

How do I know these items are real?

Luxury items are an investment because you know you’ll use them for a very long time. LGS takes the risk out of that investment by ensuring that each item goes through a multi-point inspection. They only accept items that have passed all of the legitimate authenticity tests.

What if I change my mind?

Make sure that you love that bag or sparkly ring because all accessories, handbags, and jewelry are final sale. The good news is that those items typically always “fit”. If you got your item and found that the pair of shoes or dress you loved just doesn’t sit quite right, then you have 3 days to return them so don’t wait to open the box!

I’m a huge fan of consignment shops and I use them all the time. I love finding deals on slightly loved items. No one can ever tell that it wasn’t ME that actually “used” it in the first place. I definitely keep my finds for a long time but I know when I’m finally ready to part with them, that I can resell them to get some cash back to go towards my next purchase. To me, that’s definitely a deal!
