I grew up in the small town of Orange, Texas where no one really travels anywhere or does anything very exciting. My parents divorced by the time I was two years old, and I was raised by my single father while my mother went down her own dark path.
We never had a lot of money and I was forced to go without for most of my life. I was constantly creating ways to do more with less, which created my “Hackerette” mentality. We never traveled or went on family vacations like other families. I never even boarded a plane until I was 18 years old. I always felt like I was missing out on life and wondered what else was out there to explore. I managed to put myself through nursing school and vowed to finally create a better life after I graduated with my RN degree.
Shortly after graduation, I moved to San Diego in 2005 and began working towards creating my new life. I had grown up in a small town and moving to San Diego alone was a huge step. I had always dreamed of going to Italy. I wanted to eat authentic Italian food and walk the streets of Rome taking in the historic sights, so I took action and created a plan. In 2006, I took my first big overseas trip to Italy and my Wanderlust Gene was discovered.
Since then I have:
~ Explored 24 countries
~ Traveled solo to 6 countries
~ Lived and worked overseas in Australia
~ Learned how to travel well on a small budget
~ Created my dream lifestyle of Bucket List experiences
~ Helped others do the same by teaching them how I’ve done it for myself.
While working full time as a nurse, I was still able to enjoy exploring 7 new countries last year on a very small budget. I’m excited to see what this year will bring. Travel is such a gift and it’s become one of the most valuable parts of my life and I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. It doesn’t happen by “luck”. It happens by creating your reality step by step.
If I can make it to 7 countries in one year while working full time, then you can at least make it to two! What’s your dream destination? Why haven’t you gone there yet? Is it because of time? Money? Or is it your mindset? I have a complete program that addresses all three.
It’s my passion to share what I have learned to help others create their own Bucket List Lifestyle. For more inspiration, you can read Jessyca’s success story here.
